Tui nonetheless supplying out ‘sexist’ stickers on flights

A year soon after Tui faced accusations of sexism for handing out gendered stickers to young children on its flights, the travel business has been accused of issuing them once again. 

Cabin crew ended up found to be offering out stickers reading “Future Tui captain” to boys and “Future Tui cabin crew” to ladies during its flights in August 2018. 

At the time, the company said the incident was a “simple blend-up considering that our upcoming pilot and cabin crew stickers are created for use for any child irrespective of gender”.

But this 7 days, Mark Munro was travelling on a Tui flight from Newcastle to Antalaya, Turkey, when he discovered airline staff giving out the identical stickers to boys and girls. 

The chief government of Scottish Athletics, who was travelling as element of a group of 20 older people and kids, advised the Metro newspaper that all boys in the team have been handed pilot stickers while the women were being presented cabin crew stickers.

When two young children tried to swap their stickers, the crew reportedly explained to them that they had been wearing the “wrong” types.

“We function difficult to be a diverse and inclusive business and would like to apologise to any shopper upset at the sticker their child received on their recent flight to Turkey,” said a Tui UK spokesperson. “Both foreseeable future pilot and future cabin crew stickers are in our Tui blue colors and are not built for boys or women but for all small children.

“We use the stickers as a way for our crew onboard to make particular times for our clients and the suggestions proceeds to be good. We realise on this celebration some customers are upset by this and we will be functioning with our crew to make sure kids have a choice of which sticker they receive.”
